How Jagex Took RuneScape time for its Old School Roots
Posted On 12/01/2020 02:23:43 by Tonyfirst

Let's tell the truth: typically, retro games would be better confined to memory. Rare is the vintage title that retains its luster in the harsh light of modern standards.

RuneScape is one of them, which is why we are all excited when Jagex announces the launch of Old School RuneScape. You can't imagine the fiery mood when people discussed OSRS and OSRS GP. If it achieves the leap to mobile devices, we will be even more exciting.

For those not inside the know, RuneScape is definitely an isometric online RPG released entirely back in 2001. Even right at that moment, it looked quaintly old-fashioned, with basic isometric 3D visuals that are certainly mistaken immediately for those with the 1991 Amiga game The Adventures of Robin Hood.

Released only a couple of years before World of Warcraft, RuneScape was one of the first big MMORPGs whilst still holding the Guinness World Record for internet marketing the largest and the majority frequently updated adventure.

As befits a fantasy epic, RuneScape comes about in a medieval fantasy realm called Gielinor, and that is divided up into different kingdoms, regions, and cities. It's so huge you will want to travel together on ships or using magical spells. The goal is always to just wander around signing up for quests, killing NPCs, trading, and Buy OSRS GP. There's no story in addition to the one you create up yourself or combined with the supportive community members you meet in the process.

Over the years, RuneScape has gradually been upgraded with newer and more innovative 3D visual effects, but this has not attracted everyone's preference. Therefore, Jagex conducted a poll in 2013 and asked whether it was a wise decision for players to keep RuneScape in their original style. The answer was yes. So we have now those survey respondents – and lastly Jagex – by way of thanking for Old School RuneScape, a glorious nostalgic resume the game's simpler, cleaner, 2007 form.
